Impress with a lightning-fast website
A couple of years ago now, we asked ourselves, “what would it be like if you could just click on what you wanted to change and then directly make the change on the spot?”. Our ambition was simply to make it super easy for our customers to work with the website. This led up to what we nowadays call the Live Editor.
But, we were still not completely satisfied and therefore asked ourselves a new question: “What if the whole website could be displayed at the moment you click on a link?” This is exactly what we’ve been working on lately, and we’ve been able to turn the idea into reality by taking two new steps.
1. A new VIP-server for our customers
In order to keep the costs down, the most common way today is to have the website in a shared environment with hundreds, sometimes thousands of others. The problem with this is that you have no control over what happens on the server. If others use too many resources or even engage in unauthorized activities, the whole server will be taken down and so will your website.
We have solved this by giving you the possibility to place your website on our new high-performance server where we have full control of the activities. This will be particularly noticeable in the WordPress admin panel where it will be much quicker to work with the website.
2. New software that pre-caches the website
Did you know that your website as it looks doesn’t really exist in reality? Instead, every time someone visits it, all the parts of the website are built up. This is a time-consuming and resource-intensive task. The server is forced to make a large number of calls to fetch all the images, fonts, style sheets, javascript files, etc.
One way to get around this is to pre-cache all pages so that the server only needs to load a single finished html file. This means that load times are virtually non-existent and everything is presented to the user the moment a link is clicked.
More benefits than just the user experience
A fast-loading website brings several benefits in addition to giving your visitors a positive impression. For example, Google rewards fast websites and penalises slow websites. In other words, this step can also help you rank higher in search engine results.
